Project Solus 0.2.1


Update 0.2.1 !

Heyo!

Update 0.2.1 has arrived. This update isn't the promised 0.3 (That's still in development) so instead this update is more focused on changes to the game based on feedback from 0.2. I thought getting these changes done and putting the game into a better state was more important than adding new things, but new things are in the works!

0.2.1 features:

  • A new movement system with 3 different movement types that can be changed anytime.
  • Changes to the menu effects
  • A few quality of life changes

The main reason for this update is the new movement system. Ever since the release of 0.1 the game has used standard WASD controls but a lot of people said in feedback that controls were disorienting at some points. After a lot of testing different methods, I've decided on 3 types of movement that should work best with the game's camera angles.

The first of the new movement controls is classic Tank Controls from the old Resident Evil games. 

The second is Mouse Directional. This movement type is something I've been working on myself. It's similar to tank controls but instead of using A and D to rotate the player follows and rotates towards the mouse.

And the third movement controls are standard WASD movement, but the character moves relative to the camera position. Similar to how it works in games like Detroit: Become Human.
